I’ve been noodling around with a new blog series idea, but I’m not sure what to call it. Or, let’s be honest, if it’s something that will keep my attention enough to stick with writing because it will be a bigger commitment than the content that I usually put on here. Here’s the idea: blog about a book series while I’m reading it. Other than chatter-type posts, this blog mainly consists of after-the-fact book reviews or something I call, “let me be your hype girl” where I try to bring attention to books that I don’t really see around social media. I started doing monthly TBR lists just because I, personally, like to see what people are planning on reading. Then I have the whopper of a post: Quarterly Wrap Up, which I really did just for me because I thought it would be cool to see all of the books I read.
But back to this new series idea. It goes back to why I started this blog in the first place, as a way to get out my obsessive thoughts and, maybe, grow a community of people to talk to about those thoughts. Though I still haven’t figured out how to attract readers, I think it would be fun to have a running diary-like commentary as I go. I would be able to look back on how I felt throughout the series. It would contain spoilers though, which I try to avoid at all costs usually.
So, I don’t know. Maybe? I’m hoping to embark on the Zodiac Academy series this weekend. I wanted to start earlier, but I was lured into getting the two novellas because, well, my fatal flaw is that I’m a completionist. In preparation for reading the series, I looked up the order and saw that there are two novellas, one of which it’s recommended that I read first. Sooooo now I’m waiting for that to arrive. But anyway, now’s the time to decide on it if I’ll be starting the series in a few days. I could also do it again for the Shadowhunter series, since that’s like 20 books or something.
Now all I have to do is come up with a name. I thought about “Read Along” or something like that? Not great, but I’ll workshop it. If any great ideas come your way, feel free to share!
