Alright, alright, alright, alright…alright. It’s only May 5th and I can already tell that my TBR plan for May is maybe slightly out of reach. I have bitten off way more than I can chew. I am halfway through book two and that’s only because I started book one at the end of April. Let me clarify what I mean when I say “halfway”; this means that I still have 279 pages left to read by the end of the day. What was I thinking picking the longest books ever invented for my TBR plan? Am I still going to try? You betcha. Is this going to trigger my overachiever anxiety? Mm-hmm. Why am I doing this to myself? I mean, I’m clearly a masochist.
Yesterday I woke up at 3:00am and no matter what, I could not fall back asleep. Let me tell you, I am the furthest from a morning person that you’ve ever met. I’m so much a night owl that I’m practically a vampire. But you know what I did? I got up, took a shower, made some coffee, and read my book. My house was peaceful. The birds were chirping outside and I sipped my coffee as the sun slowly rose. I’ll admit it, it was lovely. I can definitely see what all of the self-help books are talking about.
There are people in the world, who have “morning routines”. I do not. Mine consists of laying in bed, negotiating as much time as I can before I have to leave the safety and warmth that it provides. Then I suffer the consequences of that negotiation by rushing around, often skipping a shower, just to get to work by nine. So, like, I get it. Starting every day in a panic spiral is probably not the healthiest choice. But does that mean I will become a (shudder) morning person? Perish the thought. Vampires unite. Down with the early birds.
Anyway, nothing more to report other than I’ve been living in my hidey hole trying to achieve this ridiculous goal that means absolutely nothing, churning up anxiety for absolutely no reason. I will have a book review coming soon because, hot damn, The Serpent and the Wings of Night is a frickin’ masterpiece. Holy bananapants. The second one is amazing too, but in a completely different way. Happy weekend!
