Whew, we did it, fam. We made it to Friday afternoon. That was a white knuckle kind of week for me. I’m just waiting to have an easy, productive week where I get to the end of the day on Friday and think, wow, that was great. I did a good job. Lol. Is that ever going to happen? Probably not. Let’s be honest.
Currently, I’m reading Happy Place by Emily Henry. It’s really good, friends. The story is told in a past/present flip-flop, which allows the backstory to slowly unravel, while the present day story hums along. However, it’s all been building up to something, though, and I’m anticipating some tears this weekend when I finish. Yay me.
The dialogue is incredible, filled with tons of sarcasm and loving snark between best friends. I’ve been actually laughing out loud at times. It’s not easy to get that right, but when it is, it’s the best. If you like that kind of thing, one of the best authors, in my opinion, who writes amazing dialogue is Lily Gold. Of her books, I’ve read Faking with Benefits, Three Swedish Mountain Men, and Triple Duty Bodyguards. All of them are why choose and super steamy – which always catches me off guard, when the cover is one of those cartoon ones. Faking with Benefits is the absolute GOAT when it comes to hilarious, snarky, friend banter. The whole book is very dialogue heavy, but she somehow writes it so that you also get a sense of the scene as well. Highly recommend all three.
If I finish my current read over the weekend, I’m going to start in to my May TBR. You’ll see on Monday, but I’m setting myself up for quite the reading challenge in May. It basically equates to 285 pages per day, every day, but I’m excited for it. And, hey, as we all know, goals are fake. They mean absolutely nothing, so if I don’t reach my goal, then who cares. But it would be cool to have one intense reading month because why the hell not.
So that’s it for now. Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll catch you on the flippity flop.
